| Route 1 is a route north of Pallet Town, it connects Pallet town to Viridian City. It is a very empty route except for the wild Pokémon in the Grass. Going up there is grass, but on the way down, you can hop down the ledges.

| Route 2 is the second route in the Kanto region. It connects Viridian City to Pewter City and passes through the Viridian Forest. It also has an entrance to Diglett's Cave located on one side. There is a wall of trees seperating 1 side of the route from the other, and you need to Cut down some small trees to get through.

| Route 3 is the third route in the Kanto region. It connects Pewter City to Mt. Moon. It is in a zigzag shape and there are many ledges to hop. Open grass areas are located at the near-end of the route, towards the entrance of Route 4.

| Route 24 is a route in north-eastern Kanto, with Route 25 to the north, and Cerulean City to the south. Most of Route 24 is the Nugget Bridge. The player will be challenged by five trainers one by one and after defeating all of the trainers on the bridge, a disguised Team Rocket Grunt will give the player a Nugget and then offer the player a position in Team Rocket.
